OH YES! TUBERCULOSIS CAN BE PREVENTED
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
It mainly affects the lungs.
Very common in Developing areas such as Nigeria.
It is an airborne disease (spread through air) viz coughing, spitting, speaking, sneezing.
Symptoms include chronic cough with blood stained sputum, fever, drenching night sweats, weight loss, loss of appetite.
Very common in smokers and those living with HIV /AIDS.
When left untreated, could affect the brain, lymph nodes, bones and joints.
Yes, tuberculosis can be prevented through,
-Vaccination with BCG,
-Good hygienic practices viz covering your mouth and nose whenever you sneeze or cough,
- washing your hands for at least 20seconds with soap and water.
-Not coming in close contact with one with suspected tuberculosis
-Use of hand sanitizer at all times
-Exercise
-Avoid overcrowding.
-Seeing a doctor ontime for appropriate treatment because it can be cured.
